PNC 2013 Bush Babies - Wombat
Postal numismatic covers consisting of an aluminium-bronze, Bush Babies II, Wombat dollar coin and a $1.75 Australian stamp were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Perth Mint.
The coin is mounted on a colourful see-both-sides card and housed in a souvenir envelope. The accompanying $1.75 Australia Post stamp is cancelled with a specially prepared Diggers Rest Vic 3427 postmark dated 6 August 2013.
The coin and stamp both feature the wombat. Native to Australia, the wombat has a short-legged muscular frame, which causes it to move slowly. The coin's reverse depicts an image capturing the innocence of a baby wombat. As well as the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, the design features an Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.
